Animatronic Carnotaurus Model

A Carnotaurus carries two curved horns over a short, deep skull, and the animal is built around that head — the body is comparatively light and the arms are small. It is one of the more recognisable theropods and one of the harder ones to get right, because the proportions have to be committed to rather than nudged.

The model is built to a stated overall size with the horn and skull proportions set against that size, and it is supplied for outdoor park placement, museum display and mall installation, either static or moving.

The Head Carries the Animal

Two curved horns rise above the skull and sweep back, with a row of small osteoderms along the snout and a deep, heavily muscled neck. The jaw is short and powerful with a wide gape, and the teeth are moulded and fitted individually. What sells the animal is the proportion between that head and the body — a Carnotaurus with a T-Rex head is a different animal.

The body is lighter-boned than a large tyrannosaur, with a long tail and a narrow chest. The skin is a mottled pattern over the flanks, and the finish is hand-sprayed in multiple layers so the mottling reads across the whole animal rather than only in close-up.

Built for the Park It Stands In

Hot-dip galvanised steel frame, anti-UV composite silicone skin over elastic fibre mesh, servo drives rated to IP65. A Carnotaurus spends its life outdoors among planting and footpaths, and the paint has to survive that while looking like an animal rather than a coated sculpture.

The unit ships in bolted sections and assembles on site without welding, with a concrete foundation or weighted base depending on the site. Our technician joins the first run so the jaw travel, head movement, breathing and tail are set against the actual ground and light.

Placed Where Visitors Come Close

Museum grounds and educational displays, dinosaur trails, themed streets, mall atriums and public squares. A Carnotaurus is a good park animal because the horns give it a distinct read without making it hostile, and it works well in a planted area where the animal sits low against the landscape rather than on an open plinth.

Questions Before Ordering

What sizes can be built? Anything from 1 m to 30 m long and up to 15 m tall. The size is set by the site, the sight lines and the transport route, not by a fixed catalogue.

How is it triggered? Four ways: infrared or radar sensing, a pre-programmed sequence set before dispatch, handheld remote, or voice interaction. Most sites run the sensor as the default and keep the remote for staff.

What does it need on site? A 110 V or 220 V supply and a solid fixing point. The unit arrives in modules and bolts together — no on-site welding.

Can it run outdoors? Yes. The standard specification is an outdoor one, with anti-UV silicone skin, a water-resistant servo drive rated to IP65, and a hot-dip galvanised frame that tolerates salt spray.

How is it fixed? Four options: concrete foundation with pre-embedded anchor bolts, a weighted base that can be moved as one piece, expansion bolts on a hard indoor floor, or a sealed and buoyancy-rated base for water features.

How long does production take? Custom builds run on a lead time confirmed against the drawing. Send the requirement and the site plan, and the proposal comes back with the timing and the drawings marked up.

Materials. National-standard steel frame, first-tier servo motors, high-density foam core, composite silicone skin over elastic fibre mesh, hand-sprayed colour finish.

Delivery and Installation

The model ships in bolted modules on a reinforced timber crate, with frame sections, skin panels and hardware packed and labelled. Sections bolt together on site; no on-site welding is required.

Our technician joins the first run so the head movement, jaw travel, breathing and tail are set against the site, and the horn and skull finish are checked in place after transport.

The base is fixed to suit the surface — a concrete foundation with anchor bolts for permanent outdoor work, a weighted base where the animal needs to move, or expansion bolts on a hard indoor floor.
