A life-size iguanodon standing on a woodland trail, running its walk cycle on a fixed base. Filmed in natural light so the skin texture and stance read exactly as a visitor sees them.
This iguanodon sits on a trail rather than a plinth, which is the harder installation: the ground is uneven, the light is uncontrolled, and visitors walk right up to it. The animal is anchored on a galvanised base set into a gravel bed, with the control cabinet hidden under a rock cover beside the feet.
The walk cycle is a standing cycle — legs shift and the body rocks, but the animal does not travel. That is deliberate. A trail piece that moves a metre per step needs a rail, a rail needs maintenance, and maintenance on a forest trail is a cost most parks underestimate.
The clip is ungraded daylight, so the skin reads as it does in person: matte, with the folds and scale texture cast in shadow rather than painted on.
