Jurassic Dinosaur Project in the United Kingdom

A Jurassic-themed animatronic dinosaur project delivered to the United Kingdom — designed and built in Zigong, shipped and installed on site.

A Jurassic-themed dinosaur project in the United Kingdom, and the build that proved our European delivery route end to end. The UK is a harder market than it looks: visitors have seen the museum casts, the documentary reconstructions and the film effects, so an animatronic is measured against all three rather than against other models.

Where a UK Brief Bites

  • Anatomy under scrutiny. Proportions and skin detail get compared to reference material that the audience already knows. A sculpt that relies on viewing distance does not survive that comparison.
  • Weather with no dry season. Damp and wind most of the year, cold snaps in winter. Outdoor specification is not a premium option here, it is the baseline.
  • Paperwork a site can audit. Electrical specification, installation sequence and maintenance records in a form the operator can file.

What the Build Had to Solve

The animals were sculpted from reference rather than adapted from an existing mould, because the species list was specific. Frame is welded Q235 steel, skin moulded and hand-finished over our silicone system (patent ZL 2022 1 0224489.5), then painted in layers.

Motion was tuned to viewing distance. A piece that visitors meet on a path at three metres reads differently from one seen across an enclosure, and the same drive can be programmed for either. The electrical configuration was prepared for the UK supply before crating.

Installation, On Site

Shipping ran with export documentation and a sectioned crating plan. Installation was completed on site with our assembly sequence and commissioning support, so the units were positioned, connected and run-tested in place rather than handed over half-finished.

That last part is the difference between a delivery and an installation. A client who has to finish the job themselves will finish it differently from the way it was designed.

What It Changed for Later Work

The UK project is why we can quote European work with confidence: the route, the paperwork and the on-site sequence have all been run. It also shaped how we talk about accuracy, because a client whose audience can tell a Jurassic species from a Cretaceous one needs the exhibit built for that audience.

If your site is in Europe and the audience is knowledgeable, the sensible starting points are the museum scene specification and the dinosaur range.

Questions Buyers Ask

Do you publish the client’s name? No. We publish the project type, the region and the technical record. Client names and commercial terms stay private unless the client agrees otherwise.

Can the species list be changed mid-project? Up to the drawing approval stage, yes. After that the sculpt is committed and a change costs a new mould.

Is UK electrical specification standard? We prepare it per destination market. It is not an upgrade; it is what the unit ships with.
